Studying can be a very daunting experience if done incorrectly. Besides the material itself, the environment in which you sit in can have a huge impact on your body and your education. Whether this is for you or for your kids, there are many ways to create a comfortable study space that will keep you motivated and help you stay on track. Below are three main ways to create a proper study space.

Get organized

In general, a chaotic work space can be very stressful. With papers everywhere and stationery scattered all over the desk, it can be extremely hectic to find a good area to place your work. Kids usually have a very messy desk, which will keep them disinterested from the area altogether. Going to your local stationary can be extremely useful, as you can get plastic file dividers, binders, paper holders, folders and many more. If the papers aren’t important, recycling them is also a great option. After you’ve sorted the papers, get your trusty notebook organizer (planner), or buy one, and write down the list of assignments you need to be doing. It is easy to get overwhelmed by what you need to do, so writing them and their due dates down can simplify matters, even for kids.

Keep your body healthy

Keeping your body healthy is an essential step in creating a proper study space. Especially if you’re creating one for your kids. The table on which you or your child will sit on will determine how willing you are to remain settled. Sitting in a wrong position can cause many harmful deformities on your back and neck, so it’s essential that you get the right study table for kids so as not to develop such deformities. Mainly, if they’re adjustable, they will be perfect for your kids as they’re growing up and getting taller.

Be creative

Studying does not have to be mundane nor boring. Once you’ve planned your assignments, got a comfortable seating arrangement, the one thing left to do is to motivate yourself. One way to do this is to make studying fun. For instance, you can get a jar, and jot down fun ways to study, such as reading in an accent that is unfamiliar to yours, drawing pictures, reading as though you’re making an advertisement, creating a short story, etc. Fold these papers, put them in a jar, and every time you study, take one paper out of the jar and surprise yourself with whichever way you’ll be studying. Another way is by turning your notes into songs. Many of us will memorize the lyrics to our favorite song by heart but forget what we studied for hours. Songs are catchy for both adults and kids so might make your next Biology exam a little more tolerable.  Hang those lyrics on a wall near your study space, so every time you sit down you’ll remember the catchy tune.

Instead of making studying an intimidating chore, turn it into a relaxing and fun experience by glamming up your study area, turning on some classical music, and get going. It’s easy to procrastinate when we believe that the work will be tough and uninteresting. Get yourself organized, comfortable on an adjusted-to-your-preferences type desk, and with some creative juices you’ll be halfway through your work without knowing it.
