Couple that with the funk groove laid down during The Road is Always Longer, and fans will start to recognize the sheer depth to Bell’s performing persona. Always Chasing Darkness represents another chapter in Bell’s biography. Slowing things down, Bell keeps fans on the edges of their seat with each line that falls from her lips. With nods to 1970s rock and soul, this effort may be our favorite on Back Seat. The taut instrumentation that kicks up during Always Chasing Darkness will bounce around listeners’ brains for months (if not years) to come.
