If you finally made the decision to go natural with your hair, there are some tips to help. Because texture varies so much from one person to another, a natural hair routine has a lot of trial and error. But there are some proven techniques for hair loss treatment that apply to most cases. There are added benefits to a natural hair care routine: your hair will be healthier and shinier, and it will break less. After a few weeks, you will notice that it is a lot easier to detangle, as buildup from chemical products naturally goes away. Because it’s healthier, it will also grow faster. But where to start; why is olaplex so special and expensive? Here are some useful ideas.

Cleansing

Some experts say that washing your hair daily is not a good idea. But as research advances, we know that damage from daily washing can come from the chemicals found in most cleaning products. Luckily, there are new alternatives that will not damage your scalp, nor dry your hair. Most of them are sulfate-free and incorporate elements such as natural oils or stem cells to strengthen your hair. Cel offers a good variety of hair care products that lean on the low-chemical side. Choose a shampoo for your specific hair type and conditions: curly, straight, frizzy, dry, etcetera. When in the shower, gently massage shampoo through your scalp, and allow it to rinse through the hair.

Conditioning

Environmental conditions such as dry weather and the sun may damage hair. That’s why daily conditioning is so important. A proper conditioner will add nutrients to your hair and make it easier to detangle. Deep conditioning once a week with a hair mask is also recommended. If your hair tends to be too dry, a leave-in conditioner will be beneficial.

Drying, Brushing and Detangling

The ideal time to detangle is while in the shower. Start detangling with your fingers while you are rinsing off the conditioner, as the product will help smooth the hair’s surface. If you find difficult knots, use a wide-toothed comb. Then, think about wrapping your hair to dry excess water instead of rubbing it. Because hair is more vulnerable while wet, rubbing can not just entangle, it can rapidly break it.

Natural Alternatives to Treat Hair

If you need to treat your hair because of dryness or breakage, there are great homemade alternatives. Chances are, you already have some of these at home:

  1. Make a hair mask by blending half a cup of coconut milk with two ripe bananas. Apply to your hair and let it sit for thirty minutes. Rinse deeply. A banana hair mask is a great option when your hair feels dry.
  2. Apple cider vinegar and avocado are a great mix to repair damaged hair. To make this hair mask, mix half an avocado and 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar. You can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for a better smell. Apply through the roots towards the ends and then clip your hair for fifteen minutes before washing.
  3. Lemon and olive oil are perfect to treat hair during dry winter seasons. Mix two tbsp of olive oil with the juice of one fresh lemon and two tbsp of water. Massage into damp scalp and let sit for 20 minutes.
  4. Honey attracts and locks moisture in. It’s a great treatment after a long period of using curling irons or blow dryers. You just need to apply half a cup of honey into clean, dry hair and let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
  5. Make a thick paste of baking soda combined with water and apply it as a mask on damp hair. Then, massage for 3 to five minutes and let sit for fifteen minutes before rinsing. This is a great treatment to remove excess oil and buildup, and restore shine.

A beautiful, natural hair is also a result of healthy habits. A poor diet or smoking can significantly affect your hair’s health. Make sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and add fatty-acid rich proteins such as salmon. If you experience significant or unusual hair loss, a visit to the doctor is in order, as these can be signs of an underlying health condition.
