During Scarce, Ricardo Dias is able to insert a tremendous amount of rich emotion and a brooding soundscape that deftly integrates vocal and instrumental sides. Dias’s vocals build upon the work of Chris Cornell and Layne Staley; the guitar / drum dynamic call back to performers like Audioslave and Gish-era Smashing Pumpkins. There is a vibrancy to Dias’s latest that will speak to any fan of rock music. Scarce’s bit of fuzz and echo is precisely what is needed to ensure the backing instrumentation is as cohesive as all get out. Give Scarce a spin and let us know what you think about the track.
