Metal Slug Touch Review (iOS)

SNK playmore has recently decided to release a port of their 1996 game, Metal Slug, for the iOS platform. After doing some research, I’m not entirely sure it’s the same game as the one released for the old Neo-Geo console, or the SNK Arcade platform. Either way, the game seen here is something very similar anyway. The game is presented in the classic 16 bit style with no graphic improvements.…

7 Wonders 2 (Nintendo DS)

7 Wonders 2 represents the exact reason why I originally purchased a Nintendo DS. The hand-held, while diverse in the types of games that are present for it, should be used for those doctor’s visits and other time wasting scenarios that pop up from time to time. Mumbo Jumbo is a game company that creates tremendously addictive games, and does so in a way that the replay value never declines.…

NewU Fitness First Yoga and Pilates (Nintendo Wii)

There are a number of games for all current-gen consoles that claim to provide fitness to those that play them. NewU Fitness First Yoga and Pilates immediately comes forth with a sort of focus that none of these other titles have. Furthermore, while the title does not completely avoid traditional types of cardio-based exercises, the variety in exercises that are provided here ensure that players will be able to break…

Kingdom Hearts: Re-coded (Nintendo DS)

Kingdom Hearts: Re-coded has Square Enix bringing their popular Kingdom Hearts title, coded, off of the mobile phones which it was originally released. This seems to me to be the strongest effort in the series. Where most titles make do with ratcheting up the graphics or game play, this DS port puts all of the dials to 11. Furthermore, unlike the original coded, Re-coded contains all the different chapters that…

Tap Disc Review (iPhone)

Tap Disc Review By Jesse Hayges Legal Radiation gave me a code to review their title “Tap Disc” a couple months ago, and I’ve been playing it heavily since I received it, but due to the nature of being a student, school work become more important than reviews. For this I apologize, however, much to my delight, after a recent update, a lot of my previous issues with the game…

Gunstar Heroes Review (iOS)

Gun Star Heroes Review By Jesse Hayges Sega has re-released the classic genesis game Gun Star Heroes for the iOS platform. This game is a game a few friends of mine were so excited to see it appear in the Wii downloadable games center. They loved this game, and after playing it for a few weeks, I can see why. In this classic side scrolling shooter, we see some of…

Infinity Blade: Hero of the Day (iPhone)

This is the story of an app that dared to be better than all the rest. This app, though just a game, dreamed to be the brightest star in the AppStore galaxy. Filled with tales of epic triumph and bloodthirsty battles, this story promises to be unlike any other. I of course am referring to the journey tale of “Infinity Blade”. This game is the first of its kind to…

Get Fit With Mel B (Playstation 3)

It has been a few years since the last Spice Girls reunion, so it only makes sense that each of the constituent members have to find a way to make their bread and butter. What makes the most sense out of these ventures has to be what Mel B is doing. Riding on the crazy of Dance Dance Revolution types of games, ey has put eir name on “Get Fit”,…

Brunswick Pro Bowling (Playstation 3)

If one honestly thinks about it, there are few things that need to be done when one creates a bowling game. One needs to ensure that the lane English is present and realistic, and that’s honestly about it. Sure, there can be different customization features added, but that really does seem just like window dressing. This means that a game just has to do this one thing right; everything else…

Urban Terror (PC Game)

The world of free online first person shooters is a bleak place, full of oddly cartoonish games with slow paces, goofy weapons, and an overall feeling of awkwardness. As poorly as many of these games stack against their non-free competition, you have to give it to the developers for trying, and sometimes they make a gem. One of these few and far between beauties is called Urban Terror.

ArcaniA: Gothic IV (Xbox 360)

Gothic has been one of my favorite RPG series of all time. While Arcania 4 was developed by a different company (Trinigy) rather than Piranha Bytes, it seems as if the titles contains much in the way of cohesion. The biggest change to the title, in my opinion, has been a freeing from the mooring that Gothic 3 had. My biggest complaint about Gothic 3 was how players were introduced…

Zhu Zhu Pets: Wild Bunch (Nintendo DS)

We’ve had a number of words that decry the trend of tying in popular toys with video games, and it seems as if some game companies and designers may be listening. Case in point would have to be the new Zhu Zhu Pets title for the Nintendo DS, Wild Bunch. Released by Activision (and bundled with an adorable plush hamster toy), Zhu Zhu Pets: Wild Bunch would still be interesting…

Disney All Star Party (Nintendo Wii)

Disney titles usually rest on the strength of the films that they are related to (and in some cases, the Disney Channel shows which they are related). However, Disney All Star Party showcases that Disney can create an absolutely stunning Wii title that will be purchased based on the game’s merits rather than the characters or IP associated with it. While each of the different mini-games that await players are…

EA Sports MMA (Xbox 360)

There have been very few in the way of good titles that have married MMA-style fighting with current generation consoles. Where there have been titles that have captured some aspect of the sport correctly(the unique fighting styles, the numerous different fighters, or the ground game), there has not been a title that as of yet has captured everything. EA’s MMA title, which is currently available at all major department stores…

Razer Lachesis (PC Mouse)

After a few weeks on our test box, we were finally ready to give a review to the 5600 DPI version of the Razer Lachesis. The first thing to consider is that there is virtually no learning curve associated with this mouse. Just plug the mouse in, download the drivers, and the mouse is good to go. When moving from a stock mouse (or even a cheaper gaming mouse), one…

Dragon’s Lair Trilogy (Nintendo Wii)

Dragon’s Lair is a title that pretty much any avid gamer should be intimately familiar with, and I feel that a number of younger gamers have not had the chance to properly familiarize themselves with these titles. Destineer has done the whole of the gaming world a favor with their Dragon’s Lair Trilogy, a Nintendo Wii titles that bundles together the original Dragon’s Lair with Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair…

Samurai II: The Return Of The Review (iPhone Game)

Recently I was asked to do something I don’t really like to do. I was asked to review a sequel to a game that I did not play. This is not a problem, I just feel like I’m missing some of the story. The only one downfall other wise is that I can’t compare the two games to each other. As such I hope all my readers will forgive me…

Just Dance 2 (Nintendo Wii)

We reviewed Just Dance last year, and thought that it was a tremendous title that really went forth and expanded upon the dance-genre game that had previously seen a little stagnation. Rather than merely slap another paint on this original framework, Just Dance 2 has added a number of different songs, modes, and overall directions for the game to take. Key of these different modes would have to be the…

Crafting Mama (Nintendo DS)

Where there seemed to be some sort of genre limitation to the other games in the ‘Mama’ franchise, Crafting Mama looks to provide players with a tremendous amount of different activities under the heading of Crafting. Where players may not be a fan of cooking (and all it comes with it), Crafting Mama keeps things fresh through the inclusion of mini-games and skill testing approximating the creation of birdhouses, miniature…

Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team (Sony PSP)

It seems that the Dragon Ball Z series of fighters have had some problem really gaining traction in the United States. This never made sense to me, as the controls were more than serviceable and the game design enough to tax even the most-current wave of consoles. However, there may just be a DBZ title that will have players buying it in droves and keeping it in their PSPs for…
